We offer a range of services for our clients and this particular project focused on creating a beautiful contemporary outdoor space featuring beautiful decking, water features and modern porcelain paving that our clients could use for entertaining and relaxing outdoors.
Project Overview
Our clients initially reached out to our team in the summer of 2023, following the completion of their dream home. They were looking to make the garden of their dreams to complement it and trusted ALS Landscaping to deliver the care they wanted.
Their brief was simple but specific – they wanted the rear of the property to seamlessly blend in with the rest of the home. They were looking for aesthetics, but also functionality which is something we aim to deliver in all of our services.
Due to the new construction of the house, this project was essentially a blank canvas and a challenge we accepted with enthusiasm.
Initial Consultation And Planning
After meeting with the clients and inspecting the site we would be working on, our proficient garden designers came up with a plan. We would make the garden harmonise perfectly with the new home, while also meeting the client’s distinct style by incorporating several different materials and features.
Our clients applauded our efforts when the design was present and were pleased with what we had come up with. However, they chose to defer the installation process to a later date, which was a decision we fully accommodated.
Redesigning The Decking Project
After this initial consultation, our clients got back in touch in the spring of 2024, expressing their desire to revisit the plan and proceed with the project.
Following feedback, our designers adjusted the plan for their garden and the quote for our services, both of which were clearly communicated to the clients. Once we had full consensus on the new plan and price, we began this decking project in June 2024.
Construction Phase: Decking And Paving
The construction for this project was technical and handled by our professional landscapers who have decades of experience. To ensure we delivered the results our clients were dreaming of, every stage of the process required meticulous attention to detail which we maintained over the span of five weeks until the project was completed.
For the main area of this project, we used Balau decking, which was then treated with an anti-slip, oil-based treatment. This ensures that the decking would be safe to use in all weather conditions, without compromising the aesthetics of the timber.
Porcelain paving in Black Anthracite, supplied to ALS Landscaping from Brett as we are a Premier Brett Installer, was also used to craft the new outdoor space. This created a beautiful contrast with the timber decking, while also accentuating the pre-existing lighter porcelain paving at the back of the house.
Three Entertainment Zones
We created three entertainment zones in the garden. The garden now had three main areas, allowing for a variety of outdoor activities and events. These three entertainment zones were connected with newly paved pathways and featured stunning elements such as a louvred pergola and an impressive planting arrangement.
Electrical work was also performed to precision, to provide safe and reliable outdoor plugs that could be used for entertainment systems, heating and cooking equipment.
The final touch was the construction of a stunning Corton steel waterblade, which was set over a block-built Lilly pond, adding charm and whimsy to the exterior of this beautiful home.
