ALS Landscaping’s Transformation of a Courtyard & Circular Driveway
For this transformative project, the team at ALS Landscaping were tasked with managing the design and build of a large courtyard and circular driveway for our clients. Situated on the Lincolnshire-Nottinghamshire border, this is very impressive property needed the landscaping to compliment the buildings.
Working closely with our clients and their needs, this project was an exciting opportunity for our team to showcase our skills in construction, persistence, and customer satisfaction.
Throughout the project, we demonstrated our commitment to quality workmanship by working with premium materials to bring detailed designs to life and to overcome various challenges to deliver a result our clients were incredibly pleased with.
Magnificent Driveways
As soon as you arrive at the property the impressive driveway catches your eye. We used a variety of Brett Paving products to bring this driveway design to life and deliver high-quality results.
The stunning combination of Betas in silver haze and Auras in bronze fleck creates a unique, sleek entrance to the home that compliments the rest of the landscape.
Following this, our team created a stunning circular driveway area with an array of paddle stones and block paving further into the property. Laid at an intricate 45-degree angle, the resulting driveway is quite spectacular to visitors.
Complementary walling has been installed around the circular driveway to add to the aesthetic appeal, while also offering functional support for the landscape.
The Challenges
Drainage was a significant challenge during this project, as it wasn’t adequate for the site. The property is located in a high clay area, at the bottom of three hills and next to a small stream, meaning drainage was a particular concern. Drainage became an even bigger concern during this project, as we experienced the worst winter on record.
To ensure that all water is efficiently routed, an extensive ground drainage system needed to be implemented. Our team carefully designed and constructed this drainage system, removing 360 tons of earth in total to ensure water is successfully routed off the land.
This was incredibly challenging due to the weather conditions, but our team preserved and delivered a stunning, functional garden for our clients.
Special Design Features
This project was a wonderful opportunity for the team at ALS Landscaping to demonstrate our keen eye for detail. With the integration of LED lighting across the planters and circular features in the middle of the driveway, the space elicits a stunning ambience in the evening.
A stand-out feature of this project is the Egyptian limestone pavers. These beautiful pavers were handcrafted with a precise 5mm joint to deliver a stunning final result for our clients creating a beautiful, but functional patio.
The Tranquil Courtyard
Further into the property, our team enhanced the main patio area with a combination of limestone pavers and natural stone steps. These steps complement the natural paddle stone planters for a truly cohesive look to the space.
The main seating area in the courtyard is a true haven. Thanks to our meticulous attention to detail, the natural stone paving flows beautifully through the courtyard to the orangery and down to the tennis courts.
This cohesive design right in the middle of the landscape creates the perfect spot to entertain family and friends on a warm summer’s day.
The Success of the Project
The radical transformation took us roughly six months to accomplish. Our work was done during a period of considerable climatic challenges and one of the worst winters on record.
Yet, despite these challenges, our dedicated team remained committed and has produced a landscape design and construction that our team and clients truly love. We are incredibly proud of this project and is it one of our largest to date.
We are incredibly proud of what we achieved and the finished result, and here’s what our customers said of the project.
The combination of environmental factors and existing elements made this difficult at times, but the result is a meticulously constructed, high-end landscape that perfectly offsets the beauty of the property.
